OUTREACH
LakeCities Ballet Theatre is committed to offering quality educational and outreach programs allowing public school teachers, students of all ages and the community to experience the joy and magic of live ballet. Regardless of financial or geographical barriers, LakeCities Ballet reaches out through a variety of programs enhancing the knowledge of not only the artistic commitment of dance, but also the beauty of classical and modern music. LBT's programs are supported by generous contributions from public minded corporations, individuals, foundations, government agencies and by a broad base of community support.
LakeCities Ballet Theatre strives to "reach out" to the community by not only taking our productions to those who for one reason or another usually cannot experience the enchantment of classical ballet, but also by bringing the community to these timeless and powerfull productions. Through such programs as "Ticket Giveaway", LBT is able to offer all of our productions to area Senior Citizens Communities, Women's Shelters, and The Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization.
LBT is also very proud to be a part of Lewisville Independent School District's "School Mentoring Program" providing an opportunity for LBT to bring our classic Peter and the Wolf and excerpts from our The Nutcracker to area underprivileged schools. The scores of both of these ballets are part of the music curriculum in the public schools, and music teachers are always grateful for the visual experience we can provide with the music they are introducing to their students.

EDUCATION
As the arts slowly continue to disappear from school districts across the country, it becomes the responsibility of the community to continue to educate our children in the joy and life lessons that is the arts. Just as children need to have a balanced diet for proper nutrition, our children need to have their daily serving of the arts. Chances are that many children are not getting enough art - in or out of school. The arts are much more than just fun "extra" activities for kids. Studies continue to prove the far-reaching benefits of an arts education.
Did you know that young people who participate in the arts for at least three hours, three days a week for a year are: 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, 3 times more likely to be elected to class office within their schools, and 4 times more likely to participate in a math and science fair? Give children every opportunity to succeed. Make sure they are getting their fair share of arts education which can also lead to them becoming a more well-rounded individual.
