Nutcracker
(Dallas Morning News)
|
"LakeCities Ballet Theatre never heard of minimalism. 'Too much is not emough' was
the animating principle Saturday night of its Nutcracker...Décor,
casting,action-everything was laid with a lavish hand at Lewisville High School's
Stuver Auditorium. Sometimes too much is exactly right."
"This one was a marvel of energy and fun."
"Theater officials said the show has become a Thanksgiving tradition for many families,
who often plan their weekends around LakeCities' Nutcracker."
"Ms. Kent, who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, among
other venues worldwide, said she plans to keep performing with LakeCities as long
as they'll have her."
"It's a very well-run school and a well-run production," she said. "The people are
really professional and friendly. And it's sort of become part of our holiday season."

"The Nutcracker by LakeCities Ballet Theatre - Best
in area."
"LakeCities Ballet Theatre's production of the The Nutcracker
proved once again that diamonds and other precious stones don't require elaborate
packaging or gift-wrapping."
"A combination of eminent guest artists, a professional orchestra, and seasoned
danseurs and ballerinas culminated in artistry worthy of viewing at Lincoln Center,
the Myerson or Bass Hall."
"Every facet of this production of The Nutcracker speaks well of the producer. Dancers
provided a masterful performance exhibiting innate talent, excellent training and
grueling practice. Sets were captivating and drew noticeable audience reaction."
"With curtain drawn and house lights up, the crowd who had been transported to other
lands, times and places found themselves back in Stuver Auditorium."

Giselle
(Dallas Morning News)
|
"Julie Kent and Damian Woetzel took over the stage at Lewisville High School's Stuver
Auditorium as the stars of LakeCities Ballet Theatre's Giselle.
Stunning is hardly strong enough to describe their riveting performance."
"The guests of LakeCities Ballet's one-day-only Giselle,
were riveting. Not simply because they dance with such clarity and style but because
of their daring and charm, her despair and his grief."

Coppélia
(Lewisville News)

"The accomplished ballet company danced with their usual delicate and precision
execution. The sets had all the earmarks of a New York road show. All glowed in
the gentle radiance of imminent success."
"Kelly Kilburn-Lannin deserves credit for orchestrating a community ballet company
of laudable accomplishment with guest artists who bring to the stage preeminence
as professionals."
"From the first pirouette to final arabesque through every whirl and turn, this
ballet enthralled and enraptured an appreciative audience. ...The hall erupted in
pandemonium with a standing ovation of long duration. Our comments? Bravo!"

Le Ballet
de Dracula (VampNews)
|
VampNews journeyed to Lewisville, TX to attend the LakeCities Ballet Theatre's production
of Le Ballet de Dracula penned by Tom Rutherford,
directed by Kelly Lannin, starring Kevin Freeman, Mykhaylo Izotov, and Scott Cox.
We were lucky enough to speak with the one of the creators and get a brief history
of this production from concept till opening night.
The performance consisted of two acts. The first one took place in a Small Transylvanian
Village and the second in The Castle Dracula. By far the best scenes were the gypsy
warning of doom to the village and the waking of Dracula's wives. Both were terrifying
and expertly completed. The cast, surprisingly young, showed admirable skill and
tremendous poise. Also of note were the special effects which we will not spoil
by mentioning.
VampNews had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the show. If you're in the
area, be sure to check it out.

"Young dancers always want a try at classical ballet-otherwise how will they ever
grow? LakeCities Ballet Theatre took on daunting tasks with Paquita Suite...as
students, the dancers deserve high marks..."
"Credit also goes to Robert Stewart in the peasant pas de deux from
Giselle, 17-year-old Michelle Lawyer was a charming Giselle,
radiant, sweet and technically accomplished."

20th
Anniversary Gala (Dallas Morning News)
|
"The student and the sublime met Saturday night at McFarlin Auditorium when LakeCities
Ballet celebrated its 20th anniversary."
"Lindsay Coe's version of Agnes de Mille's original Rodeo,
set to Aaron Copeland's stirring music, featured 12 girls racing in and out...Steven
Loch joined them, a colt let loose from the pasture."
"Le Corsaire fared well. Courtney Neel radiated aplomb..."
